Which Presidential Candidate is Right for Automotive Dealerships? – Automotive Digital Marketing Professional Community

The social media sites were hot last night during the presidential debate between Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and current President Barrack Obama.  Since the election of former President Bill Clinton, our nation has been evenly divided over which man is the best person for the job of leading our nation amongst the world.

As a small business owner who helps companies, specifically automotive dealerships, build their business and “Win Customers for Life”; I have some very strong opinions about who I feel should become the next elected President of the United States of America.  However, I will let the reader research and decide who I am for, and who I am against.  (James Schaefer) This blog is meant to encourage voter participation and look at one philosophical point of view of each candidate and who is the best person for business.

I will try to take a simple common sense approach and put forth the facts as if I were hiring for an executive position within my own company.  This essentially is what Americans will be doing in November when they go to the polls.  However, just like in the real world; some people would not make good business owners or managers, and some people need to reevaluate whether they are making the right decisions when they vote.  Now remember, I am writing this blog about one of the many issues that is very important to me and my company.  I am not writing this issue concerning healthcare, defense, or government sponsored programs.  Therefore, a truly informed voter should look at all of the issues individually and way them to how their interest would be affected by the outcome of this year’s election.

Dealer Marketing Magazine and Automotive Digital Marketing Form Partnership

“We are proud to be associated with the ADM community,” says Brett Stevenson, Publisher of Dealer Marketing Magazine. “There are a number of social networks out there for auto dealers, but this is the Granddaddy. They have a large influence in the auto industry and have always helped dealers learn from one another.”

All Automotive Marketers Are Publishers; Learn How To Do It Well!

If you sell cars, then you need to either become a great story teller, or figure out how to survive by selling at the cheapest price!

If you are going to be a Publisher (story teller), then you should learn how to do it well.

In 1999 I was using “Geocities” to create web pages with instructions and files for downloading that were designed to assist dealers, as well as myself and the consultants I worked with to set up Internet Sales processes and lead management follow-up activities… As part of making my Geocities publishing efforts effective, I would write and publish “Best Practice” examples… Stories about how the tools I was providing were being used in various dealerships to sell more cars.

A few years later, in 2005 I started using various blogging website platforms to create “Microsites” that were used to publish stories and images about vehicle models, customers, people I worked with, how financing and leasing works and anything else I could think of that might be of interest to people I wanted to connect with in my business activities… Which were primarily selling cars and trucks to people.  I never really thought of it at the time, but over that siz year period, I became an avid story teller that published my stuff (content) to the web using a variety of publishing platforms.

Now, I would love to say there was a method to my madness, but the truth is that during that development period, from 1999 to 2005 I would use just about ANYTHING I could find that would let me create and publish my stuff… Geocities, Tripod, MySpace, Blogger, WordPress, and anything I could leverage to publish a good story, and hopefully insert some photos while creating links to my eCommerce sites, including inventory, specials pages, etc.

For many of us who have been at this for awhile (selling cars using the web) it may be useful to remember and consider that a mere five years ago Twitter was just coming into existence (three months old), while Facebook had only just started accepting non-student member profiles. Neither of these social media upstarts had any type of revenue producing business model.  Heck, Digg was considered the dominant social news service, and the real monster of social media in 2006 was MySpace, which became immensely popular with hundreds of millions of people.

Industry Thought Leader Shares Guerrilla Marketing and Competitive Conquest Advertising Strategies – Automotive Digital Marketing Professional Community.
Ralph Paglia, Vice President of Digital at Tier10 Marketing, is sharing with automotive dealers and managers his insights on guerrilla marketing and competitive conquest advertising strategies

DETROIT September 7, 2011 Ralph Paglia, Vice President of Digital at Tier10 Marketing, is sharing with automotive dealers and managers his insights on guerrilla marketing and competitive conquest advertising strategies for the web. With today’s technologies and the sophisticated messaging and advertising systems available, there are more ways than ever before for aggressive dealers and managers to take their competition’s customers away from them.

What are some online tools and techniques that dealers can use to see exactly which keywords the competition is bidding on in Google?

How can dealers and managers use their dealer advertising association’s own web site to take customers from other dealers?

Paglia offers advice to dealers and managers on:

  • How to create a dealership Google Adwords account.
  • How to register competitive conquest domain names.
  • How to build guerrilla marketing microsites.
  • How to determine the weakest gazelle for conquest.

Ralph Paglia has 20-plus years of leadership in information technology enabled automotive marketing strategy and tactical implementation. Widely known as the outspoken director of Digital Marketing at ADP Dealer Services, Paglia is now vice president of Digital at Tier 10 Marketing.

Paglia is also the founder and editor-in-chief of America’s leading social network for automotive marketing and sales professionals. The Automotive Digital Marketing (ADM) Professional Community provides an online exchange for strategies, tactics, best practices, files, images, videos and professional networking among marketing professionals working in the car business.

Paglia has presented critically acclaimed workshops at each of the 10 previous Digital Dealer Conferences.

Ralph Paglia will be speaking to dealers and managers about guerrilla marketing and competitive conquest advertising strategies for the web at the 11th Digital Dealer® Conference & Exposition, October 5-7, at The Mirage, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Google +1: Now in PPC Ads and Affecting Search Engine Ranking – Automotive Digital Marketing Professional Community.

Google makes it clear that the +1 button does have an impact on your organic rankings, regardless of whether they come from a PPC ad or your organic listing.  As long as the URL of your PPC ad matches the URL of the organic listing, +1’s will show on both results.  The company also notes that while +1’s will affect your organic search ranking, they will not change Quality Score or ad ranking.  However, the most important component of Quality Score is Click-Through Rate (CTR) and I suspect that the primary reason that Google is testing this functionality in PPC ads is that they believe (as I do) that when a user sees a +1 from a trusted source, they will be more likely to click on the ad—increasing CTR, Quality Score, and Google’s ad revenue.
